Colouring Easter Eggs...

this comes a bit later unfortunately, since I have been down south over Easter. But still worth it to post!

Me and my sister (the gorgeous 10 years old girl in the picture) have decided one day before Easter to colour the eggs.

The result was fantastic, we enjoyed ourself a lot and on Easter Sunday we gave each family member a personalized easter egg;-)

Buona Pasqua (delayed)!

Cheer up your wife with a piece of pastiera!

Thanks to our friend Virginia who came back from Napoli a couple of days ago I have now the honour and the pleasure to have tried the famous napolitan pastiera!

Me personally I have never tried it before since this recipe is very famous in the region of Napoli (you would think that it is still in Italy, but in fact all regions in Italy have their own traditions and therefore their own recipes)!

So, returning to the pastiera what is amazing about this sweet tartre is the history and the traditions behind it. You would think, it is just a cake, but there is more beyond it...history says that the pastiera was used during the pagan celebrations of the return of the Spring time.

There is also a very funny legend about the pastiera, which I highly recommed to all husbands out there who would like to see their wife smile again;-)

Smile,
D.

self made soft muffins

...what's better than spending an afternoon baking incredible soft muffins when it's raining outside?

Unfortunately I was out of chocolate chips, but since we are all trying to look good for the summer, I am also happy with my chocolate chipsless muffis...

anyone wants a bite?

spoil your guest with tasty meatballs...

ever wondered how to spoil your guest with a quick and healthy dinner?

This evening I prepared delicious handmade meatballs with a tasty tomato sauce and fresh spinach salad.

All you need for two persons is 300 gr minced beef, 3 eggs, bread crumbs, pecorino cheese, basil, salt, pepper and garlic...roll the meat in your hand until rounded;-)

Put the meatballs in a pan and cook them for about 20 minutes with a nice tasty tomato sauce...and buon appetito;-)

pizza on saturday is still a must in italy!

one can take everything away from Italy, but italians don't let them take away the pizza on saturday!!! It is sacrosant to relax with friends and go out to eat a pizza, especially if it's at the veronique in bari!

To spend the EURO 10.00 on saturday for a pizza and a beer is still possible, with or without crisis!

the wide selection of pizzas at "le veronique" is amazing, you can choose from tour eiffel pizza to montmartre pizza, now you would ask yourself why are all these pizzas named in french?
The answer is very clear, the owner of the restaurant is married to a french lady named Veronique;-)

after your pizza you can still go to take a coffee (in Italy coffee is for espresso) at the "Bar degli Amici" which offers a wide selection of ice creams and cocktails.

this is how the average italian spends a saturday evening in Italy, Bari!

Evviva!
