Blueberry & Choc Chip muffins

and here we go with my third muffins recipe for this week, Blueberry & Choc Chip Muffins!

Simply delicious and soft like always...this time with coloured papers, which were difficult to find in basel;-)

I'm happy to receive your muffin orders and deliver them to your tea afternoon parties, my muffins ordering website will be launched soon!
Have a nice weekend...

A jazz night in basel...

how convenient it is to live up in Schützengraben, especially when you fancy some good jazz concert, only what I have to do is go downhill and I am at one of the most famous jazz club of Switzerland - bird's eyes jazz club!

The atmosphere is relaxed and the space is very small to make it more familiar. When the saxophone starts to play, it seems you are in a different world, far away from basel - somewhere in New Orleans!

One point to make is to introduce a bit more savoury snacks - I am sick of  the usual boring peanuts served with drinks, what about extend it to olives, just an idea;-)

Thank you for the good idea Virginia & Isabella!

use your kellogs cornflakes!

if you want to be more creative with your kellogs cornflakes instead of just eating them for breakfast, what you can do is to crunch them into a soft raspberry sauce and cover with whipped cream, follow the process a second time until you get the sauce on top which you will need to cover again with a final touch of cream ...yummy.

You can indulge your guests into a sensual dessert they will never forget...my inspirator this time was Nigella!

too many strawberries...

if you have too many strawberries in your fridge and you don't know what to do with them, I can only suggest to make a creamy smooth strawberries mousse...

just make sure to keep some strawberries aside for decoration at the end...

Enjoy the sweetness!

A "schönen " afternoon in Schönenbuch!

is there anything better than spending a whole afternoon with your friends and their kids in the wonderful landscape of bloomy Schönenbuch?

Of course after the long and tiring walk you can stop at the restaurant  "zum Bad" to enjoy traditional swiss cuisine, but we had even the better option to go upstair the restaurant to our friend's house Krish and Fred, which has been designed from the famous architects "Herzog & de Meuron" - a place of relaxion, inspiration and peace of the senses, thank you Krish and Fred for a wonderful afternoon...

Colouring Easter Eggs...

this comes a bit later unfortunately, since I have been down south over Easter. But still worth it to post!

Me and my sister (the gorgeous 10 years old girl in the picture) have decided one day before Easter to colour the eggs.

The result was fantastic, we enjoyed ourself a lot and on Easter Sunday we gave each family member a personalized easter egg;-)

Buona Pasqua (delayed)!

Cheer up your wife with a piece of pastiera!

Thanks to our friend Virginia who came back from Napoli a couple of days ago I have now the honour and the pleasure to have tried the famous napolitan pastiera!

Me personally I have never tried it before since this recipe is very famous in the region of Napoli (you would think that it is still in Italy, but in fact all regions in Italy have their own traditions and therefore their own recipes)!

So, returning to the pastiera what is amazing about this sweet tartre is the history and the traditions behind it. You would think, it is just a cake, but there is more beyond it...history says that the pastiera was used during the pagan celebrations of the return of the Spring time.

There is also a very funny legend about the pastiera, which I highly recommed to all husbands out there who would like to see their wife smile again;-)

Smile,
D.

spoil your guest with tasty meatballs...

ever wondered how to spoil your guest with a quick and healthy dinner?

This evening I prepared delicious handmade meatballs with a tasty tomato sauce and fresh spinach salad.

All you need for two persons is 300 gr minced beef, 3 eggs, bread crumbs, pecorino cheese, basil, salt, pepper and garlic...roll the meat in your hand until rounded;-)

Put the meatballs in a pan and cook them for about 20 minutes with a nice tasty tomato sauce...and buon appetito;-)

pizza on saturday is still a must in italy!

one can take everything away from Italy, but italians don't let them take away the pizza on saturday!!! It is sacrosant to relax with friends and go out to eat a pizza, especially if it's at the veronique in bari!

To spend the EURO 10.00 on saturday for a pizza and a beer is still possible, with or without crisis!

the wide selection of pizzas at "le veronique" is amazing, you can choose from tour eiffel pizza to montmartre pizza, now you would ask yourself why are all these pizzas named in french?
The answer is very clear, the owner of the restaurant is married to a french lady named Veronique;-)

after your pizza you can still go to take a coffee (in Italy coffee is for espresso) at the "Bar degli Amici" which offers a wide selection of ice creams and cocktails.

this is how the average italian spends a saturday evening in Italy, Bari!

Evviva!
